Don't look like a dumb-ass clean your dryer vent!
Tell me this drives your crazy as well after working all day and finally coming home to an angry wife complaining how her day was wasted waiting for the clothes to dry. Then you get the ear full of how you got new golf clubs or tires for your car but she has to use a dryer that is not working. So enough said you load up the family for a fun trip to buy a new dryer. Then you get bamboozled by the types of clothes dryers and some are looking like R2D2 (guess what she likes?). What's better gas or electric? How big is the space at home? Not a simple as I first thought.
Finally you settle on one that will do everything except fold the clothes. Problem solved except for the credit card bill; once the new dryer is delivered and installed life is going to be sweet again. Wrong, poor ol' R2D2 is doing the same thing as the old dryer was doing; getting hot but not drying the clothes. Okay, now I am upset and raging at the store clerk who just fleeced me into the most expensive dryer they had. Then one simple phrase was uttered by the salesman “Have you had your dryer vent cleaned?”
Clean the dryer vent? That is a good one I am sure I would have heard about, what a lame excuse. Angry, I get home and get on the web to find out about cleaning the dryer vent before writing my letter complaining about the salesman. I felt like the biggest dumb-ass and out a couple of hundred bucks on the new dryer after reading just a couple of pages. Apparently cleaning the dryer vent is supposed to be done every year. Also, it's the number one cause of fires in the US and eats up energy by the dryer running all the time.
Here is what I learned; if the clothes dryer is getting hot and the clothes are not drying then it is not the dryer at fault it is the vent. Having a professionally company clean the dryer vent at least once a year reduces the chance of a household fire and energy costs. Also, it reduces the chances of looking like a dumb-ass in front of the kids. Keep your family and wife happy and safe; get your dryer vent cleaned and enjoy life!
